>> NASA RENEWS SEARCH FOR KECKSBURG UFO
DOCUMENTS - The National Aeronautics and Space Administration
will dive back into its archives to seek out documents on

UFO investigator and writer based in New York.
>>>> A JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF
YOUR BRAIN/MIND - In a wide-ranging talk, Vilayanur Ramachandran
explores how brain damage can reveal the connection between
the internal structures of the brain and the corresponding
functions of the mind. He talks about phantom limb pain,
synesthesia (when people hear color or smell sounds), and
the Capgras delusion, when brain-damaged people believe their
closest friends and family have been replaced with imposters.
FORD SAW CLINTON AS A SEX 'ADDICT' - Gerald
Ford was disturbed by Bill Clinton's skirt-chasing ways --
and thought he should check into a sex addiction clinic.

and that Bill couldn't keep his zipped.

Press showed Wednesday.
>> PEACE
MARCHES DRAW TENS OF THOUSANDS NATIONWIDE -
Carrying signs such as "U.S. Out of Iraq Now! No War
on Iran!" "Bring My Soldier Home" and "Money
for Education Not War," about 10,000 anti-war protesters
marched in the rain today in New York. It was one of 11 such
protests around the country taking place in cities from Los
Angeles to Boston.
HUMAN RACE WILL 'SPLIT INTO TWO DIFFERENT SPECIES' - The
human race will one day split into two separate species,
an attractive, intelligent ruling elite and an underclass
of dim-witted, ugly goblin-like creatures, according to a
top scientist.
>> PERSPECTIVE: AMERICAN KIDS, DUMBER THAN DIRT -
We are, as far as urban public education is concerned, essentially
at rock bottom. We are now at a point where we are essentially
churning out ignorant teens who are becoming ignorant adults
and society as a whole will pay dearly, very soon, and if
you think the hordes of easily terrified, mindless fundamentalist
evangelical Christian lemmings have been bad for the soul
of this country, just wait.
RUMSFELD
HIT WITH TORTURE LAWSUIT WHILE VISITING PARIS -
Former US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld's jaunt to
France was interrupted today by an unscheduled itinerary
item -- he was slapped with a criminal complaint charging
him with torture. The filed documents allege that during
his tenure, the former defense secretary "ordered and
authorized" torture of detainees at both the American-run
Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and the US military's detainment
facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
>> FEMA APOLOGIZES FOR FAKE NEWS CONFERENCE ON FIRES - The U.S. government's main disaster-response agency apologized
on Friday for having its employees pose as reporters in a
hastily called news conference on California's wildfires
that no news organizations attended.
>> TOP TEN CLIMATE CHANGE BLOGS -
This week is the one-year anniversary of Climate Progress,
so I’ve been
looking at CP’s place in the blogosphere. I wanted
an objective ranking, so I decided to use Technorati, which
ranks all blogs by “authority” (the number of
blogs linking to it).
>> NOVA:
GOD & GLOBAL WARMING - In August, NOW traveled
with an unlikely alliance of Evangelical Christians and leading
scientists to witness the breathtaking effects of global
warming on Alaska's rapidly changing environment. Though
many in the evangelical community feel recognition of global
warming is in opposition to their mission, the week-long
trip inspired new thinking on the relationship between science
and religion, and on our moral responsibility to protect
the planet.
>>>> UN

As the Earth heats up at a dangerous rate and fossil fuels
become scarcer, ordinary citizens and businesses are bypassing
the federal government to lead the way in exploring a clean,
renewable source of power: the sun. In this report, NOVA

world are "going
solar," using radiant energy of the sun to power homes,
businesses, and even entire communities.
>> 'CARBON SINKS' LOSE ABILITY TO SOAK UP EMISSIONS - A dramatic decline in the ability of the Earth to soak
up man-made emissions of carbon dioxide, and a corresponding
acceleration in the rate of increase of greenhouse gas in
the atmosphere, have been detected for the first time by
scientists.
>> DOCUMENTARY:
'IN
POT WE TRUST' - The medical use of marijuana

Reform organizations, prohibitionist groups, politicians,
drug war critics, scientists, and celebrities all get their
say in this fascinating analysis.
>> THE PEOPLE VS. THE WAR PROFITEERS - Over the past
16 years, Grayson has litigated dozens of cases of contractor
fraud. In many of these, he has found the Justice Department
to be an ally in exposing wrongdoing. But in cases that involve
the Iraq war, the D.O.J. has taken extraordinary steps to
stand in his way. Behind its machinations, he believes, is
a scandal of epic proportions -- one that may come to haunt
the legacy of the Bush administration long after it is gone.
>> FRANCE AIMS FOR 'GREEN REVOLUTION' - Green campaigners,
scientists and big business hammered out plans to slash France's
greenhouse gas emissions at a round-table aimed at launching
an environmental revolution in Europe's third-biggest economy.

the region. Six people have died and at least 70 others have
been injured.

event, half of the world's species could be wiped out.
>> KILLING GERMS MAY BE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR HEALTH -
As antibiotics lose their effectiveness, researchers are

fact of our biology, but crucial components of our health,
intimate companions on an evolutionary journey that began
millions of years ago.

>>>> OPRAH/DR.
OZ: A SPECIAL REPORT ON DEATH -
Oprah focused on two spirited people who
are dealing with terminal cancer -- a young woman named
Kris Carr and a college professor you have already met,
Randy Pausch. If you've already watched
Pausch's lecture, there is still much to learn from the
discussion Dr. Oz and Oprah have with Randy Pausch. Kris
Carr's story and corresponding discussion is equally
riveting.
>> 60 MINUTES: A LIFE SAVER CALLED 'PLUMPYNUT' -
The Nobel Prize-winning relief group "Doctors Without Borders" says
it finally has something that can save millions of these
children. It's cheap, easy to make and even easier to use.
What is this miraculous cure? As CNN's Anderson Cooper reports,
it's a ready-to-eat, vitamin-enriched concoction called "Plumpynut," an
unusual name for a food that may just be the most important
advance ever to cure and prevent malnutrition.
>> 60 MINUTES: THE AGE OF MEGA FIRES - Every year
you can count on forest fires in the West like hurricanes
in the East, but recently there has been an enormous change
in Western fires. In truth, we've never seen anything like
them in recorded history. It appears we're living in a new
age of mega-fires -- forest infernos ten times bigger than
the fires we're used to seeing.
>> THE FUTURE IS DRYING UP -
Scientists sometimes refer to the effect a hotter world will
have on this country’s
fresh water as the other water problem, because global warming
more commonly evokes the specter of rising oceans submerging
our great coastal cities. By comparison, the steady decrease
in mountain snowpack -- the loss of the deep accumulation
of high-altitude winter snow that melts each spring to provide
the American West with most of its water -- seems to be a
more modest worry. But not all researchers agree with this
ranking of dangers. Last May, for instance, Steven Chu, a
Nobel laureate and the director of the Lawrence Berkeley
National Laboratory, one of the United States government’s
pre-eminent research facilities, remarked that diminished
supplies of fresh water might prove a far more serious problem
than slowly rising seas.
>> SCIENTISTS A STEP CLOSER TO STEERING HURRICANES - Scientists have made a breakthrough in man's desire to
control the forces of nature -- unveiling plans to weaken
hurricanes and steer them off course, to prevent tragedies
such as Hurricane Katrina
>> IN MILLIONS OF PCS
RUNNING WINDOWS, THE PERFECT STORM GATHERS - A spectre is
haunting the net but, outside of techie circles, nobody seems
to be talking about it. The threat it represents to our security
and wellbeing may be less dramatic than anything posed by
global terrorism, but it has the potential to wreak much
more havoc. And so far, nobody has come up with a good idea
on how to counter it. It's called the Storm worm. It first
appeared at the beginning of the year, hidden in email attachments
with the subject line: '230 dead as storm batters Europe'.
>> FAVORITE 'GODTUBE'
VIDEOS -
By now you've probably heard of "GodTube" --
fundamental Christianity's answer to YouTube. While most
of the content on the website promotes the dogmatic perspectives
of mainstream Christianity, I thought I would pass along
a few videos I found especially interesting.
>>>> SUNLIGHT CUTS
RISK OF MANY CANCERS - Sunbathing, considered risky by skin
cancer experts, may actually reduce the risk of breast and
other cancers, new research has found. Some women who had
higher sun exposure had their risk of advanced breast cancer
reduced by almost half, according to the scientific study.
WORLD DIGITAL LIBRARY'S
PROTOTYPE UNVEILED - Reporters in Paris got a peak Wednesday at a prototype

disregard for the rules on handling such munitions.
WASHINGTON FEELS HOLLYWOOD'S HEAT - On an 80-degree morning
in mid-October, Senator Barbara Boxer huddled in a windowless

group of fashionably dressed Southern California women whose
sun-streaked blond hair and unseasonable tans belied a less-than-sunny
mission: to push the government to address global warming.
>> AURORA ORGANIC DAIRY SUED FOR MISREPRESENTING 'ORGANIC'
MILK - The Cornucopia Institute has announced
a wave of class action lawsuits against the Boulder, Colorado-based
Aurora Organic Dairy Corporation, which it says is engaged
in, "the
largest scandal in the history of the organic industry." The
lawsuits allege that Aurora Organic Dairy Corporation, which
supplies organic milk to Wal-Mart, Wild Oats, Target, Costco,
Safeway, and other retailers, is engaged in "consumer
fraud, negligence, and unjust enrichment" by failing
to adhere to USDA organic standards even while selling its
milk under the organic label.
>> DAIRY CONSUMPTION LINKED TO BREAST,
PROSTATE CANCER - A South Carolina doctor claims that consumption
of dairy products can increase your risk of acquiring breast
and prostate cancer. Dr. Robert Bibb of Myrtle Beach is working

Dove
Evolution Commercial
The
Dove Self-Esteem Fund was developed to make real change
in the way women and young girls perceive and embrace
beauty. We want to help free ourselves and the next
generation from beauty stereotypes. Too many girls
develop low self-esteem from hang-ups about looks.
Consequently, many fail to reach their full potential
later in life. The Dove Self-Esteem Fund is an agent
of change to educate and inspire girls on a wider definition
of beauty. To make change possible, the Dove Self-Esteem
Fund focuses its efforts to foster positive image-related
self-esteem in two areas of activity: 1. The Fund develops
and distributes resources that enable and empower women
and girls to embrace a broad definition of beauty;
2. The Fund provides needed resources to organizations
that foster a broader definition of beauty.
