Letter of invitation to handpicked news organizations for the first state-wide gathering of Y2K preparedness groups in Arizona.
Wednesday, February 3, 1999

The purpose of this news packet is to inform you about the first state-wide gathering of Y2K grassroots preparedness groups in Arizona. This all-day event, which will take place in Camp Verde on February 15, 1999 (President's Day), is being hosted by the Sedona Y2K Task Force. Groups from Flagstaff, Prescott, Tucson, Cornville, Camp Verde, Sedona, Cottonwood, and other Arizona cities will be sending delegations. The purpose of the conference is to allow representatives from Arizona's grassroots preparedness groups to discuss what they are doing to be sure their communities are mimimally impacted by potential Y2K disturbances and how they can help each other. A schedule and description of events is included in this packet.

Since we feel that all Arizonans should be aware of Y2K and also know that a growing number of grassroots organizations are emerging to ensure the continuation of a quality of life the people of Arizona have come to expect and love, we invite you to attend, participate and report on this important event. The meeting is not open to the general public, nor are we inviting the press at large to attend. Instead, we are seeking to create a forum that will allow a deep exploration of how communities around our state are preparing for Y2K. We are also seeking serious, in-depth media coverage. If you, and your news organization, would like to share this all-day experience with us, we invite you attend as our guest. To encourage open dialogue, the use of cameras will be restricted, so please contact us in advance if you would like to photograph or videotape portions of this event.

For further information and/or to confirm your attendance, please Johanna Carroll, Director Public Relations, at (520) 203-4892.
