QUOTABLE:
THE POWER OF WORDS
There was once a wise sage who wandered the countryside. One day, as he passed
near a village, he was approached by a woman who saw he was a sage, and told
him of a sick child nearby. She beseeched him to help this child. The sage
came to the village, and a crowd gathered around him, for such a man was
a rare sight. One woman brought the sick child to him, and he said a prayer
over
her.
"Do you really think your prayer will help her, when medicine has failed?" yelled
a man from the crowd.
"You know nothing of such things! You are a stupid fool!" said the
sage to the man.
The man became very angry with these words and his face grew hot and red.
He was about to say something, or perhaps strike out, when the sage walked
over
to him and said:
"If one word has such power as to make you so angry and hot, may not another
have the power to heal?"
And thus, the sage healed two people that day.

DREAMS OF LIGHT
By Gillian Holloway (gholloway@lifetreks.com)
While all dreams are meaningful and potentially healing experiences,
I believe it is important to discuss, study and learn from those
dreams that do not fit
well into any category, and which as a result are less likely to be studied.
In past year I have noted an unusual and exciting type of dream being
reported more often. The predominating feature of these dreams is
an encounter with
brilliant light that seems to contain or transmit some kind of energetic
charge. Some experience this light as part of the dream story, while
others simply
experience the light and the charge from it. In past years I would estimate
one person in a thousand reported such a dream. More recently this number
has increased to one in one hundred. I am fascinated by these dreams
and find their
dramatic increase rather compelling. Whether the increase stems from greater
recall, more honest reporting, or increased incidents is still unclear.
Here are a few examples:
One woman said she sees a ball of colored light come into her room,
float above her and then fly into her forehead where it shatters
into a cascade of light
filaments that soak into her and then disappear. This is vaguely pleasant,
but no other sensation accompanies the event. When this occurs, however,
it will repeat up to 20 times in one night. Another woman dreams
repeatedly of
being offered a drink from a glowing cup. When she drinks she realizes she
is taking in not liquid, but light, and her entire body becomes suffused
with light. One man reported he was flying in his dream when he looked
at himself
and realized he was made of light. Perhaps the most provocative story was
a man in a Montana prison who was suddenly suffused with light while
dreaming
a religious dream. Nearby inmates yelled and called for the guards when his
cell became so brilliantly illuminated they thought he had ignited a bomb
or started a fire. The man was taken in for questioning, and although
no one believed
his story of a dream, his cell was clean of anything which could have ignited
a fire, and his "case" remains a mystery.
I have had three dreams of light in my lifetime, and in all three
cases I was suffused with light and noticed that my body was holding
a charge of some kind
through its exposure to the light.
While many religious teachings associate light with religious encounters,
psychological symbology associates light with understanding and
insight. Some theorists believe
the human race is evolving and that actual alterations to the brain and nervous
system may cause the experience of seeing light during sleep (when some neuronal
repair may be done.) On the other end of the spectrum, some believe helpful
aliens are "amping up" our vibratory rate during sleep so that
we will be better able to handle earth changes, photon bands, and escalating
or
quickening time. While any of these explanations may contain elements of
truth, all seem to offer rather incomplete glimpses of an arresting and apparently
increasing phenomenon. I am currently collecting dreams of light and observing
their commonalities, as well as recording the impressions and meaning the
dreamers
have of them. If you have a dream of light to contribute to this research,
I encourage you to send me a copy (my email address appears below). Your
privacy and anonymity will be respected. If you have a theory regarding the
causes
or meaning of these dreams I would value your opinion as well. Whatever I
discover or postulate will be shared in future NHNE columns.
Thank you.

SACRED TRANSFORMATIONS
By Bob Manrodt (bobby@ptd.net)
The Sacred Transformations web page is an ongoing process that comes out
of my intuition and perceptions of integrity. In a way, this page is a manifestation
of my spiritual emergence vision that happened almost 27 years ago. In my
vision
I was deep in the Earth, connected in a wired-up way with aware beings around
the planet. Today, the Sacred Transformations web page has transformational
stories from beautiful, aware people located in the United States and a few
other countries around the world like New Zealand and Scandinavia.
The unfolding of my vision continues. A great deal remains in process.
There is much to explore, much to integrate. As my own work with
Sacred Transformations
continues, people around the world are creating web pages and sites with
their own creative expressions, visions and information to share.
We are linking
up. There is a timing to all of this, like in the intricate movements of
an elaborate dance in which we all dance our part.
Transformation comes in many forms. Experiences may be gentle, violent,
enticing, scary and everything in between. Transformational experiences
are, after all,
unique for each of us. The idea of transformation, or spirituality for that
matter, seems to be barely understood in our society. Yet we see manifestations
of these all around us. Our gardens are transformed from dirt and remnants
of dead plants into flourishing wonders of color and growth. How is it that
a child is transformed into an adult? Those of us who have spiritual experiences
know they have experienced something.
What is spirit? What is transformation? Does transformation occur
in the lives of humans? The definitions elude us. There are no easy
answers. Some would
deny that spiritual or transformative experiences even exist. The experiences
we present on the Sacred Transformations bring us closer to understanding
the meaning of spirit and transformation. What better way than through
the words
of the experiencers themselves to demonstrate the sacred meaning and effect
of transformational experiences?
A worthy theme that ties the wide range of transformational, spiritual
experiences together comes through the work of Rhea White. Rhea is
the director of the
Exceptional Human Experience Network. Exceptional Human Experiences (EHEs)
are spontaneous anomalous experiences of the psychic, mystical, encounter,
and death-related type. They may be transcendent or mystical, and often have
the potential to be transformational, depending on how the experiencer relates
to her/his own experience or what he/she does with it.
What is particularly exciting about Exceptional Human Experiences
is that they seem to be present for everyone of us. EHE's need not
be dramatic. They may
be subtle, like a dream or intuition. The importance of these experiences
lies in what we do with them. Our own personal experiences have power;
they reveal
their meaning through our work with them.

PATHWORK:
HEALING THROUGH FEELING
By Dottie Titus (DottieT@aol.com)
The Pathwork is a spiritual path that began forty years ago. The teachings
consist of 258 Pathwork lectures as well as many question-and-answer sessions.
Possibly the most important tenet of the Pathwork is self-responsibility,
accepting responsibility for one's life, one's choices. It begins
with a willingness
to look at oneself truthfully to see both our divine center and the negativity
that keeps us from reaching our full potential. As we take our blinders off
and examine our current state, we begin to develop another aspect from which
to see ourselves. Called the objective observer, this aspect helps us find
the courage to go deeper within regardless of what we find. For if I can
view a negative aspect of myself dispassionately, then clearly that
negative aspect
is not all there is of me; there is a larger self that is seeing that aspect.
As I step into this larger aspect, I am attaining a wider view from which
I can more clearly see the truth of who I am.
Much of the work of Pathwork is about transforming the negative aspects
we find in ourselves. Every negative trait has at its root a divine
quality: Judgmentalness
is a distortion of discernment, the ability to distinguish and differentiate.
Stubbornness is a distortion of the ability to stand one's ground. Defiance
is a distortion of self-assertion. Rigidity is a distortion of being firm.
Lack of faith is a distortion of self-reliance. Fear is a distortion of healthy
caution. Rebelliousness is a distortion of courage, independence.
The process of healing the negative consists of first identifying
honestly the negativities within, then allowing ourselves to fully
feel the feelings
behind them. Any feeling we avoid gains power over us until we allow it to
be felt. Old wounds fester within because we buried feelings we dared not
feel at the time, afraid they would overwhelm us. From childhood,
when we were emotionally
immature, we carried forth the belief that strong feelings could not be tolerated.
Healing comes through feeling whatever needs to be felt and learning that
it is no longer unbearable. As we experience our feelings fully,
we find a new
strength within. In Pathwork Lecture #190, "The Importance of Experiencing
All Feelings, Including Fear," the Pathwork Guide says:
•
Through the gateway of feeling your weakness lies your strength;
•
Through the gateway of feeling your pain lies your pleasure and
joy;
•
Through the gateway of feeling your fear lies your security and
safety;
•
Through the gateway of feeling your loneliness lies your capacity
to
have fulfillment, love and companionship;
•
Through the gateway of feeling your hate lies your capacity to
love;
•
Through the gateway of feeling your hopelessness lies true and
justified hope;
•
Through the gateway of accepting the lacks of your childhood lies
your
fulfillment now.
In
giving ourselves permission to feel all of our feelings, we free
ourselves from the tyranny of our defenses and open ourselves
to
our hear's desires.That
is true healing.

RECIPE FOR RELATIONSHIPS
IN THE 21ST CENTURY
By Linda O'Keefe & Lance Botthof
As relationship counselors in a time of major global transition, we are
often asked to respond to questions like: "What makes a good relationship?" "How
do I find my soulmate?" "Why do I long for relationship, then feel
empty even when I'm in one?" "What is the point of relationships
with others when they seem to be so much trouble?" Confusion seems to
reign for us all during these times of change. Part of the confusion may
come from not acknowledging that our relationships have also come through,
and continue
to be in, major transition.
From the dawn of civilized man, relationships were necessary to provide
for basic elements of our survival. Our tribal beginnings required
men to hunt
and kill game for food and for women to nurture the family system. All
were given support by the entire tribal community. These roles can
clearly be seen
in action throughout the Industrial Revolution, where the corporation became
the field of hunt and women were still in charge of the family and household.
With the onset of the Information Age in the 1970's, the traditional roles
and a sense of community have become more obsolete. Suddenly, we are creatively
challenged as individuals to identify what we need in our relationships
to best support our growth. What do we need to be the happiest, most
productive
and fulfilled, now that we no longer need each other so much for physical
survival?
As two individuals in this process, we'd like to share some of what
we've learned. Both of us have spent a great deal of time cutting
our teeth on what we didn't
want and feeling the emptiness of life without a fulfilling partnership.
As we sharpened the focus on our individual personal growth, we were
unwittingly
being prepared for the relationship we had always sought. The recipe for
this relationship seemed to be in divine preparation before we ever
met. The following
are the ingredients in that recipe, which we are still in the process of
refining:
-- Honesty
-- Acceptance
-- Freedom
-- Support
-- Partnership/Team work
-- Empowerment
-- Companionship
-- Inspiration
These qualities seem like obvious desires, so why are they so hard
to find or cultivate in our relationships? We found that the direction
in which we
had been looking was as misguided as the faces we were looking for. The
key was shifting our focus.
It's been said that the definition of intimacy is, "me being me and letting
you see me." The same can be said for our perception of "self." All
of us like to look at what beautiful spiritual beings we are, and indeed we
are -- it's much harder to let our relationships teach us about our wounded
humanness. In fact, our position is that this is now the true "purpose" of
relationships -- to provide a mirror that will reflect a view of all parts
of ourselves. If we can use our relationships as a way to see and clear the
woundedness, then they will be transformed into a vehicle for greater expression
of our divinity.
So how do we get there? It's one thing to see our relationships as
tools to learn more about ourselves. It's quite another to really
allow those parts
of ourselves, that we've hidden for a lifetime, to come out and have a
say. It can also be tricky.
Our theme for this column is to explore, in greater depth, the
creation of healthier relationship with self -- and hence with
others. In future installments,
we will present some powerful tools that can help make the most of the
personal growth within your relationships. We want this column to
be interactive,
so we invite you to send us any comments, suggestions, reactions,
questions or
the "ingredients" on your list. We look forward to your input and
hope this column will be helpful to you.

THE LAWS OF MANIFESTATION:
AN OVERVIEW
By David Sunfellow (nhne@nhne.com)
Imagine you woke up one morning and were completely aware of everything
going on inside of you. You were aware of every thought and feeling--both
conscious
and unconscious--and could also see, with startling clarity, exactly how
your thoughts and feelings were orchestrating events, creating life experiences
and drawing specific people and circumstances to you.
After a few minutes of being completely floored by the astonishing
process you see at work inside yourself, then you are floored by
another realization:
now that you see what is happening, you have the power to take control
of it; by consciously orchestrating your thoughts and feelings, you
can manifest whatever
kind of experience you want!
Not very many of us wake up in the morning with this kind of penetrating
insight into the nature of ourselves and our reality. But a growing
number of people
are beginning to suspect something very much like this is taking place
within all of us--whether we are conscious of it or not. What's more,
a significant
portion of the human race seems to be on the verge of becoming conscious
enough to start using their creative powers to make breakthroughs
undreamed of by
former generations.
In future columns, our goal will be to discover how, exactly, the
forces within us work and how to use them to transform ourselves
and our world. In the meantime,
I will leave you with a few quotes from the Pathwork Lectures of Eva Pierrakos
that describe the process we will be exploring:
"Man constantly creates, whether he knows it or not. He creates by what
he is, by what the sum total of his feelings, his conscious and unconscious
opinions and convictions are, by his conceptions, which determine his actions
and reactions,
by his goals and his attitudes. Every thought is a creation and has its consequences.
It brings about a specific result that expresses this thought. Since man consists
of many conflicting thoughts, and since his thoughts and beliefs often vary
drastically from his emotional conceptions, the result, that is his creation,
must be accordingly.
The mixed-up, conflicting and confusing lives most people lead testifies to
this fact."
"You are living in a highly potent creative substance. You live in it, you
move in it, you have your being in it. Everything that consciousness emanates,
sends forth, expresses into this substance, must take on form. The word you
speak or think, the emotionally charged thought, knowing it and pronouncing it,
is
the creative act... This is how creation unfolds in its myriad ways."
"It is, therefore, one of the most important aims on this path to make all
you think and know, you perceive and conceive, you believe in and want, conscious.
Only then can you see the conflicts and the misconceptions. Only then can you
begin to create meaningfully a good life..."
(From Pathwork Guide Lecture, 194)

HICCUPS ON THE PATH
By Elsa Joy Bailey (elsajoy@mailto:ccnet.com)
Suppose walking the spiritual path were easy? I mean socks-off, swingin'-on-a-porch,
hat-in-the-air easy?
Wouldn't that be a happy landscape, all bright and bursting with
flowers? There'd be this one shock of awareness, and foreverafter
you'd walk on gilded ground,
with pocketfuls of angel glow to soften your steps and dismantle all obstacles.
Tough times would fly by like dust mites on a spring breeze.
That would be heaven. So would free money. But it doesn't happen
that way. Why? Because there's a tiny virus around here that doesn't
want us walking
the path: our ego.
We've all got one; if we didn't we would be elsewhere, building high
tech cloud formations and broadcasting symphonies on the wind. I'm
not doing that yet,
and neither are you, which means both of us still have work to do. We're
here to wake up: to tilt our sight towards Home and wean ourselves
away from the
pull of ego.
And that's hard work. It takes time, patience, guts, dedication,
and relentless compassion. (And if you've got all of those on hand,
please send me a quart
STAT.)
A virus extends its life by finding a host cell in which it can sit,
feed, live, and duplicate itself endlessly. Our ego virus works much
the same way;
it invades our thoughts, insisting we are a discrete and finite entity.
A lot of us accept that premise a lot of the time.
Don't feel you are at fault, here: in the earthly dimension we're
all born with this virus. We're trained from childhood to believe
that we are separate
little packages -- applauded for it, in fact. That's the ego holding its
ground.
It holds it well. The fact is, we spend a long, long time thinking
we lovable specks of life born to die -- hopefully, having first
garnered a decent amount
of toys. That's the bad news. The worse news is that since the notion of
separation invades every aspect of this world, its principles are
reinforced at every
turn.
Until we jump ship. And then, as we begin our walk Home, the ego
strikes back. As part of its battle plan, it presents obstacles,
all with an eye to distracting
us from proceeding Homeward.
Since we cannot fix our gaze egoward and Homeward at the same time,
each moment the ego succeeds in pointing us towards chaos, it wins
its battle. Conversely,
each moment that we spend looking within towards God is a knife in the
belly of the ego. Because any instant in which we are one with our
Real Self, the
ego ceases to exert power. And when we reach a point of living totally
from the Self, the ego pales into nothingness.
It's the distance between our first brief encounters with Oneness,
and the state of living There that comprises our path. A long path,
because our belief
in division has deep, strong roots.
The fact is, fighting off the "me" virus is part of the
territory. Yes, it's tough work. But you can do it. How do I
know that? Because you are
something very, very powerful and unique: you are Spirit.
And Spirit has never lost yet.

Here is the leader of the fifth exploratory force reporting to the
Commander In Chief:
"They're made out of meat."
"Meat?"
"Meat. They're made out of meat."
"Meat?"
"There's no doubt about it. We picked several from different parts of the
planet, took them aboard our recon vessels, probed them all the way through.
They're completely meat."
"That's impossible. What about the radio signals? The messages to the stars?"
"They use the radio waves to talk, but the signals don't come from them.
The signals come from machines."
"So who made the machines? That's who we want to contact."
"They made the machines. That's what I'm trying to tell you. Meat made the
machines."
"That's ridiculous. How can meat make a machine? You're asking me to believe
in sentient meat."
"I'm not asking you, I'm telling you. These creatures are the only sentient
race in the sector and they're made out of meat."
"Maybe they're like the Orfolei. You know, a carbon-based intelligence that
goes through a meat stage."
"Nope. They're born meat and they die meat. We studied them for several
of their life spans, which didn't take too long. Do you have any idea the life
span of meat?"
"Spare me. Okay, maybe they're only part meat. You know, like the Weddilei.
A meat head with an electron plasma brain inside."
"Nope. We thought of that, since they do have meat heads like the Weddilei.
But I told you, we probed them. They're meat all the way through."
"No brain?"
"Oh, there is a brain all right. It's just that the brain is made out of
meat."
"So... what does the thinking?"
"You're not understanding, are you? The brain does the thinking. The meat."
"Thinking meat! You're asking me to believe in thinking meat!"
"Yes, thinking meat! Conscious meat! Loving meat! Dreaming meat! The meat
is the whole deal! Are you getting the picture?"
"Omigod. You're serious then. They're made out of meat."
"Finally. Yes. They are indeed made out of meat. And they've been trying
to get in touch with us for almost a hundred of their years."
"So what does the meat have in mind?"
"First it wants to talk to us. Then I imagine it wants to explore the universe,
contact other sentients, swap ideas and information. The usual."
"We're supposed to talk to meat?"
"That's the idea. That's the message they're sending out by radio. 'Hello.
Anyone out there? Anyone home?' That sort of thing."
"They actually do talk, then. They use words, ideas, concepts?"
"Oh, yes. Except they do it with meat."
"I thought you just told me they used radio."
"They do, but what do you think is on the radio? Meat sounds. You know how
when you slap or flap meat it makes a noise? They talk by flapping their meat
at each other. They can even sing by squirting air through their meat."
"Omigod. Singing meat. This is altogether too much. So what do you advise?"
"Officially or unofficially?"
"Both."
"Officially, we are required to contact, welcome, and log in any and all
sentient races or multi-beings in the quadrant, without prejudice, fear, or
favor. Unofficially, I advise that we erase the records and forget the whole
thing."
"I was hoping you would say that."
"It seems harsh, but there is a limit. Do we really want to make contact
with meat?"
"I agree one hundred percent. What's there to say? 'Hello, meat. How's it
going?' But will this work? How many planets are we dealing with here?"
"Just one. They can travel to other planets in special meat containers,
but they can't live on them. And being meat, they only travel through C space.
Which limits them to the speed of light and makes the possibility of their
ever making contact pretty slim. Infinitesimal, in fact."
"So we just pretend there's no one home in the universe."
"That's it."
"Cruel. But you said it yourself, who wants to meet meat? And the ones who
have been aboard our vessels, the ones you have probed? You're sure they won't
remember?"
"They'll be considered crackpots if they do. We went into their heads and
smoothed out their meat so that we're just a dream to them."
"A dream to meat! How strangely appropriate, that we should be meat's dream."
"And we can mark this sector unoccupied."
"Good. Agreed, officially and unofficially. Case closed. Any others?
"Anyone interesting on that side of the galaxy?"
"Yes, a rather shy but sweet hydrogen core cluster intelligence in a class
nine star in G445 zone. Was in contact two galactic rotations ago, wants to
be friendly again."
"They always come around."
"And why not? Imagine how unbearably, how unutterably cold the universe
would be if one were all alone."
